Pueblo West Colorado Geographical Location:
Pueblo West is located on the southern edge of the State’s major growth corridor approximately 7 miles west of Pueblo and 38 miles east of Canon City on U.S. Highway 50. The District is located immediately north of the Pueblo Dam and Reservoir, which is a part of the Frying-pan-Arkansas Water Project. The United States Bureau of Reclamation constructed the dam in 1975. Pueblo West is bisected by east-west U.S. Highway 50 and its eastern border is touched by north-south Interstate 25, which is the major route northward to Colorado Springs, Denver then to Wyoming and southward to Walsenburg, Trinidad and New Mexico. The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroads tracks are conveniently located in areas next to Pueblo West with a rail spur into the Industrial Park that is located in the Northeast Quadrant.
The area of the District contains about 26,830 acres or 49.1 square miles of contiguous lands.
Climate
The average annual precipitation in Pueblo West is 11.91 inches. The average daily high is 68 degrees with an average daily low of 37. Although Pueblo West receives an annual snowfall of 31 inches, the moderate temperatures do not allow snow to stay on the ground for long.
Land Use
Pueblo West is a planned community and is controlled by covenants known as "Declaration of Reservations." The Declaration of Reservations will give a general idea of land use and restrictions throughout Pueblo West. A copy of the covenants can be obtained from the Committee of Architecture located at 109 E. Industrial Blvd. Covenants may vary slightly for individual tracts. Pueblo West Committee of Architecture has the responsibility of enforcing the covenants. The Committee is composed of residents who have expressed a desire to serve and then have been appointed to assure that the covenants are observed.
